Supporting Growth Alliance

Alta served as constructability advisor on this alliance project between Auckland Transport and NZTA. We provided constructability advice to support route protection of numerous roads, rail, and active transport projects across Auckland’s growth areas.

Project scope

Supporting Growth Alliance aims to protect Auckland’s critical transport corridors over the next 30 years.

The key programme of projects include:

- Warkworth

- North Auckland (Dairy Flat, Silverdale, Wainui)

- North-west Auckland (Kumeu, Huapai, Riverhead, Whenuapai, Red Hills)

- Takanini (level crossing removals)

- Airport to Botany

Alta’s work

Alta’s constructability analysis began with a high-level assessment to support the Multi Criteria Analysis. We narrowed down alignment options, then completed site-specific assessments that informed the designation boundaries for the route protection.

The Alta team provided the overall construction approach, which guided other subject matter experts in assessing environmental and construction effects.

Key learnings

Alta navigated the resource consent and Notice of Requirement processes. We established designation boundaries and corridors and applied the Public Works Act.
