Cameron Rowlands

Senior Associate

Cameron was raised on a farm in Taihape, lives in Rotorua and works out of our Tauranga branch. He has 15 years’ experience – 10 of these in construction and five years in consulting. Most of this time has been in New Zealand; however, he was based in Perth for three years, where he flew in to remote locations to manage construction projects.

Besides wanting to be involved in building ‘cool stuff’, Cameron’s motivation to become an engineer was to work with great people, add value to project teams and achieve great results where everyone wins.

“There is often a disconnect between the clients and contractors which comes from not understanding each other. Discussing and understanding what a good result is for each party is key, and part of our role is helping everyone work towards meeting project goals.”

Over the course of working on a range of projects, including marine structures, tunnels, roads, services, earthworks and civil structures, these ones stand out for him.

  • Project management and design management of Te Maunga Resource Recovery Park Redevelopment
  • Completing several projects as ER/ERA (St Marys, Kitchener, GI2T)
  • Successful negotiation of the Glen Innes to Tāmaki (GI2T) Section 4 contract and budget
  • Completing Fergusson FN Berth as a contractor.

Cameron is detail-oriented and not afraid of asking ‘silly’ direct questions to find gaps in thinking or to challenge the status quo. Each project that he works on benefits from this approach.
