The project consisted of multiple reinforced concrete fish tanks, concrete tanks for water filtration and recirculation system, civil works, building and fitout, and complex piping, mechanical and electrical equipment installation.

Technical experts and suppliers from Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, USA and Taiwan were involved in the project.

The challenges with global supply chain issues, unprecedented cost escalation, and COVID-19, made this an exciting and complex project.

Alta was engaged to manage the project lifecycle, including initial budget estimate, design process, procurement of designers, main contractor, specialised equipment, and through to the construction phase and commissioning.

Tasks included project management services, overall project programming, design management, quantity surveying, procurement of specialised equipment from overseas. During construction, roles included Chair of the Project Control Group, Engineer to the Contract, Engineer’s Representative, and overall construction support for the client.

The project involved a range of engineering disciplines and has similarities to a water treatment plant. This include concrete structures, earthworks, civil works, PE pipework, mechanical and electrical fitout, specialised equipment, commercial building construction and fitout.
