Jamie’s experience is well-rounded and includes structures, roading, waters and urban environments. He possesses considerable knowledge from contractor, consultant and client perspectives and has specific expertise in programming, temporary works, construction staging and commercials.

Jamie has been at Alta for five years and has been responsible for establishing a permanent base for us in the Bay of Plenty. Jamie functions across all of Alta’s service lines with his strong commercial acumen and Engineer to Contract experience.

In addition to his time at Alta, Jamie has 10 years of contracting experience on a range of heavy civil engineering projects in New Zealand and the Pacific. His New Zealand experience has included structures and design manager roles for a number of major construction companies. Jamie enjoys pressure situations and brings a calming influence to his projects.

“I like adding value in the pre-construction stage of projects to provide the best possible chance for the Construction works to complete a successful project.”

Jamie gains a sense of accomplishment from the end-use benefits of the projects he’s working on, whether  they are rail bridges that trains drive over, roads that cars drive on, cycleways cyclists use, or pipelines that convey water and wastewater.

A winner
In 2012 Jamie won a young Engineers Global competition. The competition was advertised worldwide, and from hundreds of applicants, Jamie and two others won a trip to Switzerland.

He visited several factories and construction sites, including the Gotthard Base Tunnel. At a length of 57 kms and 152 kms of tunnels, shafts and Passages, it is the longest railway tunnel in the world and Jamie couldn’t help but be impressed by the sheer scale and nature of the project.
