ROLE

Independent Estimator and Principals Quantity Surveyor

Auckland Transport upgraded the Puhinui Station to become a major bus and train interchange similar to the Otahuhu, Panmure and Manukau stations. The new station will improve travel to and from the airport, and its surrounding areas, by providing more reliable and timely travel choices. In addition, it will connect people to wider Auckland through southern and eastern line train services.

The interchange was built on the existing train station, linking the rail platform with a new bus and ‘kiss and ride’ area via a new elevated concourse. Designed by Aurecon and Jasmax, McConnell Dowell Built Environs was engaged by Auckland Transport to build the facility under an initial ECI contract and then a construction contract.

We provided Independent Estimator services prior to construction during the ECI contract. This involved delivering and reconciling estimates during the design stages and agreeing the construction contract value.

During the construction phase we acted as the Principals Quantity Surveyor, providing commercial and cost support to AT and assisting with payment claims and the agreement of variations.
