Antonio hails from Brazil and came to New Zealand via Australia. In Brazil he worked on one of the most significant tunneling/subway projects in Latin America which was the Metro Line Project for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. While in Australia, he worked on local council and private entity projects.

Antonio is inspired by working in multidisciplinary teams and enjoys being part of complex projects and applying engineering concepts to overcome technical challenges. His practical approach and curious nature ensures he backs up decisions with facts and technical knowledge.  

”I believe the civil engineering projects will be more sustainable and achieve a carbon neutral status in the next few decades and I am excited about being part of this transition.”

As part of his ongoing professional development Antonio intends to gain his master’s degree in the next five years.

Projects
In addition to his role on the metro construction for Rio Games, another significant project Antonio worked on was Transmission Gully where he was responsible for the slope stabilization works in the high-risk cuts, drainage and earthworks in the north zone of the highway. In summary:

  • Principal`s advisor for the Takitimu North Link bridges.
